Design Achievement – The historic Bruce-Monroe Elementary School at Park View was constructed in 1916, and two additional academic wings were added in 1931. DLR Group's design for this modernization makes the most of the opportunity to restore the historic 1931 building to its original glory while providing a state-of-the-art environment for its 1,000 students and the local community. Design features include a new front entry that serves as the welcoming point of the school. The entry also functions as a secure zone to regulate public access to a central media center for after hour use by the community.
Scope Summary – The scope of this project encompassed the modernization of an 80,000 SF, 1,000-student elementary school.
